6 Days Rwanda Primates Safari, Rwanda, a nation, is blessed with several primates, to say nothing of the mountain gorillas and golden monkeys that are found within Volcanoes National Park, chimpanzees, and many other primates that you will encounter in Nyungwe National Park. Therefore, this safari basically enables you to encounter primates and some bird species.
Day 1: Kigali Airport pickup on arrival.
The safari starts with a pickup from Kigali Airport, then a drive to the lodge for check-in, then an optional city tour depending on arrival time. This will include a visit around the craft market, old Kigali City, Kimironko market, and a historical trip to the Kigali Genocide Memorial, then a drive back to the safari lodge for overnight and preparation for the next day’s drive to Volcanoes National Park.
Day 2: Kigali City Tour and transfer to Volcanoes National Park.
This day starts with an optional city tour, depending on your arrival time the previous day, and then you taste the local dishes for lunch. After lunch, you drive to Volcanoes National Park, which lies in northwestern Rwanda and borders Virunga National Park in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda, for a late check-in at the booked safari lodge.
Day 3: Gorilla tracking safari experience and afternoon community tour.
The day starts with an early morning breakfast and packed lunch, then a drive to the briefing center at the park headquarters, where you will be grouped eight people per gorilla family and told about the gorilla trekking do’s and don’ts. You’re entitled to spend 1½ hours with the primates on spotting them feeding deep down in the jungle, then get to the safari lodge, freshen up then do a community tour.
Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking and Drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
The day starts with an early morning breakfast, then we drive to the briefing as we get ourselves ready for the amazing golden monkey trek in the jungle. Volcanoes is home to gorillas and golden monkeys; then drive to Nyungwe Forest National Park for chimpanzee tracking and a canopy walk experience.
Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking experience and afternoon canopy walk.
This day starts with an early morning breakfast with a packed lunch, and then we set off to the briefing center to get ourselves briefed on the chimpanzee trekking do’s and don’ts while in the jungle. Having done chimpanzee trekking during the morning session, the afternoon will be set for a canopy walk experience that enables you to have great views of the untouched natural forest and amazing sights of Lake Kivu.
Day 6: Drive back to Kigali Airport.
Having fully enjoyed tracking all these amazing primates from Volcanoes National Park and Nyungwe Forest National Park, we shall drive back to Kigali Airport for our flight.
